We don't know the people who were killed, and we don't know the families, so how can our thoughts and prayers be with them? It's akin to dumping loads of flowers and stuffed toys at certain locations. This, TWR, is not directed at you personally, just the general trendy conception of saying something just to say something.
stuey, incidents like these don't just affect the immediate families of those involved.
They are a reflection of the society of which we are all a part and as such it is natural to be saddened by such bad news. I am not grieving for those who have been murdered but I am able to feel for those who are. Those of us who believe in prayer find it natural to pray for the those who are suffering, whether we know them or not.

However....stuey is not asking you to be saddened, that would be natural, but his concern is for the language used........
