It’s with a very heavy heart that I have to tell you that Mrs Sqad has asked me to let you know that Sqad passed away on New Year’s Day. He had been quite unwell recently as many of you realised so now at peace. He used to really enjoy this site and I know most people had engaged with him at some time or another. I met them both several times in Menorca and have remained very good friends ever since. Sincere condolences to Mrs Sqad at such a difficult time, she really is the loveliest lady and Sqad really was an amazing husband to her. RIP my lovely.

Thank you for the update Prudie.  I'm pleased to see all the tributes here, he was certainly a character, a very sincere doctor and at times a lovable old rogue with a wicked sense of humour. He will most certainly be missed by many Abers, not just the ones he helped medically.

R I P Sqad

"lovable old rogue"...out of curiosity, does anyone know sqad's actual age?

Thanks, Prudie, will be with Mrs Sqad in spirit. Squad helped me quite a lot with various petty health issues over the years. I bet he's left a large hole in each part of his life, we certainly miss him on AB.

A term of endearment rather then any particular "age"

Thanks for information on squad's funeral, Prudie. I shall take time to think of him next Tuesday. Such a loss if a great character.

Brainiac I remember a long time ago Sqad was challenged by someone about him being a real doctor.  He actually posted a certificate to prove he was.  It'll be on here somewhere.

Found it if anyone's interested.

I don't think Sqad was a lovable old rogue.  I think he was a very astute, well educated person with a sharp and intelligent wit, right up until the end. I`ll give a thought to him on Tuesday.  I went to my Uncle's funeral on Thursday and will be giving a donation to the BHF as well (so that one is for Sqad too)

Thanks ladybirder. Sqad, gone but never forgotten. RIP.

Prudie - thanks for the update.  My thoughts will be of Sqad & with Mrs Sqad & all present on Tuesday.

They're not mutually exclusive. I agree with your assessment too. But if folk find my term of endearment offensive then I withdraw it.

Canary - I don't find it offensive at all.  Disagreeing and being offended are two different things (although these days being 'offended' seems to be very fashionable though)

Canary...I'd not find it offensive either. I often thought of sqad with a teasing twinkle in his eye. But always extremely professional when advising those who needed his help.

oh, young Sqad was quite the rogue, as anyone can no doubt find out by going through his medical records here. But he was also immensely helpful to ABers in difficulties.

For Sqad(and Mrs Sqad)

Remember Me

To the living, I am gone, To the sorrowful, I will never return, To the angry, I was cheated, But to the happy, I am at peace, And to the faithful, I have never left. I cannot speak, but I can listen. I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.

I don't know who wrote it,but I thought it was very fitting?

Thank you for the update, Prudie.

Pasta, I think Sqad was almost 90 (I could be wrong on that).  He was a contemporary and went to the same school as my uncle who would have been 90 this year.  We discussed this many years ago on here.  He knew of some of my family and the area in which they lived.

Kind of you to post, Prudie, much appreciated. I shall reflect and think of dear Sqad and his good lady on Tuesday, as I have done every day since you posted this thread.

Barmaid, you are correct. Sqad did mention his age on one of his birthday threads, so loved by him, not ;) and he was 89 last May.

Prudie thank you for the update, I will remember sqad tomorrow x

Thinking about sqad and his family and friends on the day of his funeral.  RIP you lovely man.
