I am holding 2 different burns nights - the menus are as follows

BN1
Mini Scots fry
Haggis neeps and tatties
Whisky, Orange chocolate mouse

BN2
mini haggis scots eggs
Venison stew
Whisky, Orange chocolate mouse

My problem is the dessert, I ideally would like to serve a different dessert each night but it cannot be heavy and must be Scots themed.
Any suggestions?

Did Cranachan cheesecake last year and its the same people from then.
But they probably won't remember it.

Really fancied doing Clootie Dumpling but as MrRed pointed out its very heavy.

Question Author
pasta its a fry up but in mini, so
fried quails egg
tiny mushrooms and cherry tomato
small slice of streaky bacon
a disc of black and white pudding
square sausage
and potato scone
Question Author
everything is roughly the size of an old 50p
At least if you do a parfait, you can slice it thinly. And you can mess around with it a bit to make it more interesting (you could do a line of raspberry and whisky mousse down the centre and serve with toasted oat crumb and fresh raspberries on the side).

If you are doing mini haggis scots eggs, do you serve the egg yolks runny? I presume you use quail's eggs? Can you post your recipe for this please? It is just what I want as a starter for a dinner party I am doing in a few weeks.
Dundee pudding
Question Author
BM here you are, the bit at the end is the instructions on how to cook the quails eggs so that they are still soft - it worked when I did it last year

Mini haggis scots eggs

6 quail eggs
160 g quality haggis
a few sprigs of fresh flat-leaf parsley
200 g pork sausage meat or thick pork sausages
40 g plain flour
1 splash of milk
120 g breadcrumbs
mix haggis and sausage meat together to blend then make as normal

Bring a litre or two of water to the boil in a pan. Carefully drop the quail's eggs in and boil for 2 minutes 6 quail eggs 2 Remove the eggs from the water with a slotted spoon and place into ice cold water. Once they are cold, peel and set aside. Be very careful when handling the quail's eggs – they will be soft and fragile

johnny what is Dundee pudding?
White chocolate and raspberry mousse, whiskey honey and juniper berry syrup, maybe crumbled cinder toffee on top,
Drambuie goes very well in a ganache filling for a tart,
Question Author
That looks amazing Barry but himself does not like trifle!
Rowan - that dessert sounds delicious may well give it a go
Have made it before, also put a few pine needles in the syrup, but that was a bit out there for a couple of my friends, works in the summer with lavender flowers instead of juniper berries.
