My son's wife is on bail for assault and neglect of their 2 children. She has to see the children at a contact centre which costs money. He has paid for two weeks. Is it unreasonable for him to ask her to pay for visits now as he is on benefits due to having to give up his job to look after children

Who receives the child benefit? Does she have he rown income and who is paying for her accommodation (presumably she's not at home with your son)
No, it's not unreasonable.
He could ask- seems reasonable on the face of it. But if she has no income either as she gave up work to look after the kids while he was working, and if he now gets the child benefit, maybe he should be prepared to pay if she can't. But it also depends on whethe rthe kids want tos ee their mum. If they don't then if i was in his position I think I'd tell her to pay for the visits

AZardoz, please read the guideliens at the head of the Law Topic.

AZ-Ardos- I think there's a good chance they won't have any more children together but that is a side issue and is not helping the OP with this query
can they find a local contact centre where you don't have to pay?
Bednobs' suggestion of seeking an alternative contact centre might be worth investigating. The website of the National Association of Child Contact Centres says the following:

"Will I have to pay to use a child contact centre?

Whilst some centres and services do charge for attendance, others provide their service free of charge. Contact your specific service for their costs. Most supported centres are free or low cost"

Thanks for helpful answers. My son is living in emergency housing as his landlady who happens to be his mother in law has evicted him and the children from the family home. His wife is now living in the house.
