The Orinoco is a South American river therefore........

(it's also a wee furry ****** that lives under Wimbledon Common, but that's probably nothing to do with it!)

If it had something to do with The Wombles, it might be more interesting. It's just more of Enya's so-called spiritual, new-age bullsh1t.
The song is all about sailing, and the Orinoco is a river that, y'know, flows. Orinoco is also the name of the London recording studio where Enya and her collaborator Roma Ryan wrote the song, which also contains references to then WEA A&R man Rob Dickins and their studio engineer Ross Cullum.
