Notre Dame (Again) Sad, But....

'On April 15, 2019, a huge fire destroyed much of the beautiful medieval Catholic cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. Millions of people watched, in shock, live video feeds of the tragic destruction.

But what about the hundreds of other European churches that are vandalized and set ablaze each year? As Gatestone's Raymond Ibrahim reported in an article just one day before the Notre Dame blaze:

"Countless churches throughout Western Europe are being vandalized, defecated on, and torched. In France, two churches are desecrated every day on average... In virtually every instance of church attacks, authorities and media obfuscate the identity of the vandals. In those rare instances when the Muslim (or "migrant") identity of the destroyers is leaked, the perpetrators are then presented as suffering from mental health issues." '

Danny, aog is right. Islam is not a race. Your quote comes from the Anti-Racist Movement in Europe which includes within its remit an intention “to put an end to structural racism and discrimination across Europe and make a real difference in ethnic and religious minorities’ lives."
Naomi, Is that a bad thing?
If it's biased it's a bad thing.

I wonder why there isn't such a word like Christianophobia, after all no one can say there have been no acts of violence and discrimination, also historical abuses and negative stereotyping leading to exclusion and dehumanisation of Christians.

but not torched...

and little babies are being sold into slavery.... you have to be mad to set fire to something ( = arson) has been tried as a defence and it does not run very well

ANOTHEOLDGIT, there is such a word and it's been debated in Parliament

//I wonder why there isn't such a word like Christianophobia//

er they used 'persecution' in the early part of the last century.
( Diocletians persecution, persecution of the fifth century etc)

paganophobia doesnt exist - [ but neither does schlop-kick or gruentflich]
does lack of a word mean you cant think it?

I wonder why I take these threads seriously - it does me no good at all. On another thread, someone thinks Trafalgar was the deciding land battle of the Great War [whatever that was, someone else added].
oops sozza
not keeping up with my new-words-in-parliament list
sozzaaaaaa
Peter ("I wonder why I take these threads seriously"). You don't, mate. What you do, and blessings be upon you for it, is to try and point out the utter idiocy of the clique on here who seize every opportunity to lambast Islam/Moslems/Arabs/Dusky-skinned peoples/etc.

Sometimes I join in with you, sometimes I realise that life is very short indeed, and go and count my socks instead.

Only when they deserve to be lambasted, which unfortunately comes along far too frequently in this day and age.

Are you saying that no one should lambaste (your description again, but this time correctly spelled) those who commit dreadful acts of terrorism, the Child Grooming gangs, or even the knife killers?
Looks like the EUSSRistan branch of the TFOJ have stirred. Anything but back your own side eh?
looks like BB is counting his almonds!
Lambast or lambaste are both acceptable spellings.
AOG, for your edification:_

Question Author
To a real Christian, a cathedral is no more holy than a small church in an isolated hamlet.
The cathedral may be a greater work of art, but the overt vandalising of a parish church is a worse act than the accidental destruction of a cathedral.
Khandro, agree, but it won't have such a devastating effect on so many people.
AOG you said "bednobs
/// as far as I can see, the author is saying it's very rare that migrants or muslims are known to be the perpetrators ///

Read what it actually says.

"In those rare instances when the Muslim (or "migrant") identity of the destroyers is leaked" "

I DID read it - and it's what I said!
I wonder if the fire which seems to have happened in the Al Aqsa mosque at the same time had taken hold would Hafsa Askar have been so mouthy on the subject.

That is one of the very, very few occasions that I have done so, but seeing that there are many on here who go out of their way to continuously do so, and have always got away with it, then I thought that I would give it a try.

But then I am AOG, so I don't suppose that I am ever likely to get away with it, and I have been proven right once again.
bednobs

/// I DID read it - and it's what I said! ///

No it wasn't, you assumed that it said that it's very rare that migrants or muslims are known to be the perpetrators.

When what it actually says is:

"In those rare instances when the Muslim (or "migrant") identity of the destroyers is leaked"

"It's very rare that the identity of the destroyers is leaked"
