//The Cons, now have a very young PM ,he is only 42 yrs of age , so he could be Pm until he is 42 and a half at least...// I think gully may be right here TTT, looking at the polls & bearing in mind that outside the metropolitan bubble, Sunak is not at all popular with the general public, the crunch will come at the council elections in England in May next year. It is very...

Oh God! Not another one with incontinence problems!
Canary. If you keep wetting yourself it's probably not a good idea to broadcast it. Doesn't end well. That is well meant advice.
It’s been so wonderfully dry around here for the past few of days. I’d go as far as to say positively sunny. Don’t spoil it now, canary … please.
^Delete the ‘of’ - obviously.
Judging by the new cabinet so far, it's not at all clear things will get better. On the contrary many who seemed less than wonderful are back. Still, at least Braverman is back in the cabinet. Perhaps she can convince the rest that we need out of the ECHR, and can get her plans to tackle the immigration issue finally accepted.
I thought it would be better, Naomi....didn't realise just how much better.
Me too …. and nor me, guess. What a difference! Unbelievable. I think the News section has been much busier today too - and sooooo much more civil and pleasant. This has actually been a good test - and a highly successful one. Onwards and upwards … hopefully.
Oh I hope so, Naomi. I don't contribute a great deal but like to read the opinions of folk in the UK. That has been impossible for a while now. Today has been much better. Let's hope it continues and gets back to what it once was.
If the latest long-overdue initiative is maintained I think we may have every reason to hope.
Some sort of celebration in code form. Please let us all know?
If Rees-Mogg is right and Sunak is a socialist, does that mean us lefties can call him Labour? After all, that's similar to what Tora does with Blair.
I don't think even JRM thinks he's a socialist. What did he actually say?
Process of elimination Tora. The newspaper article said that JRM doesn't think Rishi is a socialist so they can work together. Mogg resigns his cabinet position, so logically, one must assume that he has changed his mind about the new PM.
// Braverman... (cut)... we need out of the ECHR //

In principle I agree. We should remember Winston Churchill was a key player in establishing the ECHR.

A legal structure which guarantees the fundamental rights of an individual in law, should be welcomed by all!

Perhaps we are of the same mind, in that, we do not welcome our courts being overruled by Strasbourg. Hence we want out!
///During the last Tory leadership contest, Mr Rees-Mogg described Mr Sunak as the “much-lamented socialist chancellor” who had put up taxes during the coronavirus pandemic.///
mozz: "Process of elimination Tora. The newspaper article said that JRM doesn't think Rishi is a socialist so they can work together. Mogg resigns his cabinet position, so logically, one must assume that he has changed his mind about the new PM" - come on mozz you're better than that there may be many things that makes him change his mind doesn't mean he's a socialist.
You've ignored the quote posted by JNO.
Alternatively Tora, it could mean exactly that. The article is behind a paywall, so I do not know what JRM has said in total, but from the headline (coupled with jno's post above) it seems that he believes Sunak is a socialist.
he dated his resignation letter "St Crispin's Day".

I suppose that's after the Gregorian calendar reform, but one never knows, does one.
20:10 even if he does think he's a socialist, one person's view, probably spoken in ire, does not mean he is. He withdraws it here anyway: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2022/10/25/jacob-rees-mogg-rishi-sunak-socialist-cabinet/
If anyone thinks Sunak is a socialist they want their bumps felt.
