.... would those demanding compensation - the descendents of people rounded up in Africa, sold out of Africa and bought from Africa - now be better off?

Possibly.

They could be in a 4 star hotel in one of numerous cities in the UK instead of slumming it in the Caribbean

When you actually look at society now, I don't think black people have done too bad. I often wonder what they're whingeing about. Especially BLM, who now have huge funds to be used entirely for "recreational" purposes.

It is hard to know but they would have been more peaceful and healthier.

Possibly not, but you and your family may have been a tad less wealthy.

Is this another case of white supremacy?

If we didn't enslave your ancestors you would now be suffering a terrible life in Africa?

Oh, how high and mighty some can be!

How intelligent to spot the flaw in the unreasonable demands some can be.

Donald Trump (whom God preserve) was right when responded to some black idiot whining about how he should be compensated for slavery when he said, " The best thing that could have happened to you was that your ancestor was brought to America as a slave, otherwise you would now be living in some ***-h*le of a place in Africa!"

There seems to be an alternative view of slavery to the hitherto accepted one, ie, a bad thing.

Millions died because of the slave trade

Why ponder hypotheticals, it's almost always pointless.

funny how people who've been paying compensation to descendants of slave owners most of their lives without a whimper suddenly get exercised about paying it to descendants of slaves.

It clearly pays to have the whip hand.

I have no direct connection to slavery.

But if I did, I would not feel inclined to apologise, much less pay compensation, for something I have not done, to someone I have not done anything to.

Any compensation due slaves can only justly be paid by those who practice and/or defend slavery. Compensation demanded from anyone other constitutes further enslavement of the innocent.

Given the propensity for African nations to have corrupt leaders, it could follow that a few of them might have been better off whilst the vast majority would live in the squalid shanty towns, as they do today.
