Photos Turning Into Stickers - Iphone12

Every time I copy a photo on my iPhone to paste into WhatsApp the pictures display as stickers.  This has only happened just recently. How can I stop it please?

Why aren't you just selecting the picture from your photos when you're in WhatsApp, rather than copying and pasting?

just select the picture and then "share" and whatsapp will be an option, no need to ever cut and paste.

Why aren't I?  Hmmm ... good question.   Probably because I haven't set it up.  Must figure out how that's done.  Thank you.

TTT, so you don't set it up from the WhatsApp end - kind of import pictures as you would with an attachment to an email - but just choose to share pictures from the 'pictures' end - if that makes sense?

Also .... if I share or import into WhatsApp is the picture still going to end up a sticker?  I need to stop the phone doing that entirely - don't I?

yes independently of whatsapp just brwose your gallery select the picture then you should have the option to share. Symbol looks like this:

select that then one of the options should be "whatsapp".

^cancel that.  I've allowed WhatsApp access to my pictures and sent one - it's fine.  Not a sticker.

 

Thanks for your help fellers.  Apologies for prattling in laywoman's jargon.  Technical and I aren't the best of friends.  Thanks again.

Cross posted, TTT.   The phone calls it a sticker.  I think it's something that can be saved and used like emojis.

Just tried your way, TTT.  That works too.  I do it with texts and emails all the time.  Didn't think to do it with WhatsApp.  Derrr.  
 

And no stickers.  It must be something to do with copying pictures.  Not to worry.  It's sorted.  Thank you.

It's a feature Naomi, to allow you to make your own stickers and emojis from you photos. You did it without knowing your own capability! 👍🏼😄
