Boring People

We have two longtime friends with whom we have a drink on a Saturday night every couple of weeks.
The town where we live has plenty of pubs/clubs to suit everyone and very often there are a few local groups belting out the usual standard songs.
Our friends (or rather the female half) insists on going to a quiet club where we can "have a chat" without being bothered by music.
This means she bangs on ad nauseum about her new job which she has decided is going to be her platform for business woman of the year awards - (in reality stacking shelves and reordering).
Unfortunately she is so keen, everyone else in the shop walks all over her and gets her to do all the *** no-one else wants to do.

To cut as long (and boring) story short, how do we tactfully tell them how boring they are without major fallouts or hurt feelings?

If anyone has been in a similar situation can you offer any advice

You don't!! If they are long time friends you put up with the crap because they are supposed to mean a lot to you!

They do mean a lot but I would rather not put up the the crap ALL the time, which is where the problem is.

If you only see them every couple of weeks it can't be too bad surely?
intervene, keep changing the subject , and suggest it might be nice to see a group for a change , nif shes does like it well, me, i'd just go anyway life's to short to be bored
Personally, I hate Pubs with live music, or any kind of music at all. Its always fa, farr too loud and I am with your friend here in that I prefer to go out socially to meet people and talk ( and sometimes listen ! )

Stick with this friend and try to change the subject every now and then. Its nice to have friends and so many people haven't got enough, or any at all these days.
I guess me and my mates are totally different from most on this site ...

''Ok you're boring me now'

has been said many times by most of us. Once that is said we can then get on with enjoying the rest of the evening.
My 40+ so called Mate used to say this about me in front of the Young Lasses he use try & chat to as he was chewing gum like a fecking horse, I kept to one side observing the looks on the lasses, more often than not they used to come & talk to me about anything they wanted, a lot of us are quite, a lot of use lack the ability to chat about life's going on's, Listen as a friend, you said you are long time friends, that's what friends do even though it might be boring, have you ever thought, they might have said that about you!! worth a thought, but a thought of loosing friends would worry me more.
Just tell them what venue you're going to and if she doesn't want to go then so be it.

get her to change jobs ?
If they are long time friends, can you not jokingly tell her to 'put a sock in it'? I could say that to my friends. They'd take the message on board and laugh.
Say you want to let your hair down this weekend as you're in a party mood!
How about going out for a nice meal now and again, she'll be too busy eating to say too much !
Suggest thst next time you all go out, you go to the cinema instead, that way she wont be able to talk about her job the entire time!

Close friends I could talk to as Talbot and Naomi has described , with people who are just acquaintances I'd suggest we were getting stuck in a rut and visit a new and noisier venue.

Add in a bit of humour to take the sting out.
If they are that boring then why do you hang out with them?
make the couple of weeks longer and longer..get new friends..life is too short !
It`s a shame when people dump friends because they are boring. You couldn`t have been much of a friend.
237 that's no' fair ! only so much boring ..here we go again one can take !
True friendship is about sticking with people through thick and thin no matter what. If one is "bored" with them then in my opinion then they are not friends.
