Thanks all, spoke to him briefly yesterday and we are currently concentrating on trying to get the house sorted so he can come home.
He has lost the sight in one eye and feeling in one leg and arm. Trying to speak to some of the RAF clubs to see if they can help at all.
I appreciate all your kind thoughts - life stinks and I selfishly never considered my daddy not being here.
Just a thought rr. Everyone who is discharged from hospital for possible * end of life care * do not have a wet room at home .
Question Author
Yes I appreciate that annea and that not the main thing holding up his discharge, but at the moment in order form him to shower it means a drive to my stepsisters as they have a downstairs shower room.
There are other things stopping him being released

Patients can be bathed in bed or with assistance at a washbasin ?

Thank you annea I realise that
Are occupational health going to visit your dads home to assess what equipment he may require to forward his discharge home,?
RR you can hire internal mobile showers and wet rooms ( if he has the room)- we had one for my grandfather before w got the proper one converted.

Yes annea but my stepmother has been through this before with her father and realises that a wet room is easier to keep him clean.
Thank you calico
Anne, I suspect it's palliative care rather than "end of life" care. Anything that makes him more comfortable will be considered, as it should be. (Apologies RR).
My stepmum is also struggling in France with my dad who has got to just past the end of the 5 years he was given. Not the same as your situation, but genuinely, I wish you all the best xx
It is pixie, my phrasing was wrong, I apologise to rr.
