I was just watching and the second chick was standing towards the camera on the piece of wood. After a few minutes of flapping and preening he tried to step down onto the metal pole. He missed his step. He was only a month old. I'm so sad, first time I've watched a nest and probably the last.

I'm so pleased that the two juvs seem to come and go as they please now.

Melv will this nest be used again by the parents next year or is it just as likely a new family will move in?
joov is twitcher for chick is it
and what are they doing now?
Juv is birder speak for juvenile, pp. They're nowhere to be seen at the moment.
Question Author
I'm following melv's use of juv probably short for juvenile - derived from the Latin for youth I think.

Empty nest at the moment as I expect they are out exploring their world and practising catching their own food.

Carrot, there is no way of knowing which birds return to the nest site, unless they're coloured ringed or they can read the serial number on the leg ring

Oh ok thanks Melv. It's been so interesting this little window into their world through the webcam.
Late lunch being consumed.
Anyone seen the juvs recently?
1 juv ont platform.
Looks like they've migrated.
Juv ont gantry.
According to the Facebook page, the two juvs are still frequenting the nest box. The weather is quite mild and they are feeding on birds other than swallows, which have migrated some weeks ago.
