According to this quite detailed page from Admiral Insurance, it's likely to be classed as 'clerical business use':

Best to check with your insurance company.
If they can avoid paying out it will be.
Yet another reason to tell your employer that you ain't prepared to supply all the resource for their tasks, when and decent employer would respect staff enough to supply them with office, heating, lighting, internet, etc. etc. etc. ?
OG, many people prefer working from home because they save a lot more money not paying for the commute, parking and save hours each week in the travel time.
Car insurance is a lot cheaper if you can exclude commuting and employees working from home can also claim tax benefits.
I know, many were in favour when my last employer tried to foist it on everyone. But sensible folk, such as myself, had bought homes within walking distance of work, so there was nothing but disadvantage and being taken advantage of. But the biggest thing wasn't the dumping of legitimately company owned expenses onto employees, and the expectation that they must turn part of their home into a workspace; it was the loss of human contact, the getting out of the house and meeting colleagues: and electronic communications using one's own computer and one's own broadband is definitely no comparison. Where was the discussing the odd small issue with the person next to you and asking for opinions ? Where was anything that made the job more than a slog ? Even a return to the commute would be preferable.
clearly some happy people here
I wd have thought the employer wd pay the diff as a reasonable business expense...
A few one off set up payments, mostly inadequate, then you were on your own for all the time you remained with them. They'd not do it if it didn't save them money, so guess who was picking up the continual cost of their savings and losing out on family rooms in their own home, to boot.
