'Bodies' (Netflix) And 'Dark Hearts' (Bbc4 - Iplayer)

Binge-watched 'Bodies' over last few evenings and thoroughly enjoyed it. While it does star Stephen Graham, he makes only fleeting appearances in the first few episodes, but his role(s) become more prominent as the series progresses (8 episodes in all).

The plot is a tad complicated and will not be to everyone's taste - particularly those who like evetrything explained in 'act one, scene one' - but it centres on one man's vision of a Utopian society and what he must do to achieve this. A tale of time-travel involving the same dead body turning up at the same location, but in 4 different time-zones, 'Bodies' is, imho, a really good watch.

BBC4 aired the first 2 episodes of 'Dark Hearts' on Saturday evening and they are available on iplayer. This is a French drama, with some familiar faces, set in Iraq just prior to the 2016 Battle of Mosul.

A prominent ISIS leader is captured and promises to give a French Special Forces team valuable info, but only if they can get his daughter and grandson to safety. Easier said than done, it would appear.

Just 2 episodes in, i find it to be quite a good watch and some of the action scenes are very tense in nature. All episodes are available to watch on ipayer.

Thanks Ken.

Thanks, Ken, I can't be doing with time travelling, flash backs, flash forwards.  I live the plot to start at the beginning and finish at the end so I won't be watching Bodies much as I like Stephen Graham.

Dark Hearts just doesn't appeal to me.

Exactly what Barry said for me too. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Just binge watched all 6 episodes of Dark Hearts. I thought it was compelling viewing. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope we don't have to wait too long for series 2. We are still on a knife edge at the end of Series 1. Thanks for the recommendation Ken.

Just watched the 3rd and 4th episodes of Dark Hearts and i have to admit i've changed my mind. It's not a 'good watch', it's a very good watch. And so, so tense in many parts.

Our friends across the Channel know how to do drama.

Watched the last 2 episodes of this gritty drama, last night, and i have to concur with all that Retrocop says. Like him, i cannot wait for Season 2 - the commission of which is surely inevitable - but, having done a bit of digging around, i fear we may have to wait until this time next year at the earliest.

Dark Hearts (or, as it was called in France, Black Hearts) was released on French tv in Feb this year. It apparently took at least 5 months in the making, with the cast undergoing Commando training at a boot camp - going on 4-hour marches in the night, early morning jogging, weapon handling and fight scenes - small wonder the action scenes were quite realistic.

They would most likely have to have some sort of refresher course before the 2nd series is made, i would think and a lot would depend on their availability.

Still, the way time seems to fly much faster with every passing year, October '24 will be here before we know itπŸ˜‰
