I work for a large electrical store...As of a few weeks ago everyone was given the same target to sell during the week.A couple of weeks ago , the store's target increased so it was decided to give a higher target to the salemen that had sold the most prior to the change meaning that some sales people in the store that sell less can look more successful because they have lower targets .I am one of the more successfull sales people and feel its totally unfair since I work the same amount of hours as the rest and yet i am targeted higher , is this legal as i could be disciplined for not meeting my new targets , I work in scotland
Check the terms and conditions in your contract. I work in sales and in our contract it says that they are allowed to change our targets to suit them, and there is also a very evil clause that says that even if we hit target, paying commission is purely at the company's discression.
I think they can do what they like!!!!
I too am a successful salesman and I am penalised for being successful in the same way as my targets just get higher. I am certain my targets only go up because I achieve the targets set and as such my commission gets less so I often think why should I bother?
