Does anybody know of any organisation or charity that could use knitted woollen squares (roughly 6 inches square) (4 carrier-bags full) and carrier bags full of wool? (14 Morrison's carrier-bags full, odd balls, all the colours of the rainbow?) A lady used to knit them to make blankets, but she was moved into a home after a stroke and she has now sadly died, cleaning out her house her daughter has just asked me and I'm at a loss, I don't want to contact the WI, I just wondered if anybody could point me in the right diresction? Thanks.

If you can be bothered Sew them into blankets then local animal sanctuary could probably use them
The RSPCA rescue centres will use them in their catteries. You could also try contacting your local Age Concern they do a charity event called The Big Knit every year.

Well - that's that sorted!! the lady phoned her local vet and he said he'd be happy to take some to the local small animal rescue centre, and the other half will go to a lady whose daughter runs a soup kitchen for the homeless - she crochet's blankets so she'll use the wool - thanks rowan and Moon
Well done to all of you for being thoughtful of others. The world would be a better place if more people thought of others a bit more than have the attitude 'F**k you jack I'm OK'.......
It brought tears to my eyes reading this, only not long before my Mum died, she used to pass the time by knitting squares with odd balls of wool. After she died, I was so distraught, I couldn't face sewing them together, so gave them to my sister. The little blankets were then passed on to a charity of some kind.

Good for you mercia. ♥
