Hi we have a 9 year old female spayed cat, she comes and goes as she pleases, but we have got a real weird problem with her, 18 months ago we had our hall and stair case decorated with a real nice wallpaper, up untill then we had a awfull jiprock wall covering which we just painted every couple of years, no problems what so ever, but since the re dec she has taken to clawing at the wall and using it as a scratch pad (which she has may I add). It is as if she has taken an instant dislike to the walls. If we saw her doing this then we could stop her with a scare tattic, but she does this during the night or when we are out in the day. We have sprayed citranella on the walls, any body got any ideas, my husband says he has got a good one a 12 bore shot gun (joke) help WHF

My cat does this with the one squidgey sofa we have. The other sofa got shredded to the point of collapse. They takes against it, or they just like the feeling so much, but I have found nothing that will deter the blighters. Cat lovers have homes that are generally shredded at the edges up to knee height.
My monsters have a couple of places in the house where they are attempting to bury through the wall - I am glad that they restrict their habit to these places and not all over the house.

Read through this article and see if they can help. I know that with things like sofas sticking sticky tape or tin foil on deters them. But they are cunning little monsters so there is no guarantee that it would work with yours.

IMO it's the wallpaper paste, the smell is attracting her. Use a strong spray like Oust, see if that works. (My cats like citronella...)
My cat used to scratch at the bedroom doors so everytime she done it, we would spray her with water. Just a little bottle like this http://www.boots.com/...y%20Bottle%20%20100ml is what we used. She soon stopped lol!
