Dub step

OK this is a thick question probably but what do you understand by the music style 'dub step' and can you explain it to me please? This is X factor related.

Thanks boxy but that I checked, it doesn't actually tell me how to recognise it and what Tulisa was going on about her dub step sets at festivals and one of tonight's contestants singing an Adele song in that way. It didn't sound any different to me.

It goes :
Boom...tish...boom...tish...boom (wub wub) tish (wub wub) boom (wa-wub wub) tish (wa-wub wub, da wubble) and so on.
At worst it's a manufactured repetitive annoying load of old toilet but some of the more technical and progressive stuff is quite fun (IMO).
