Am I the only father who doesn't think Father's Day is a proper day? It was invented by Americans last century, and, I suspect, promoted thereafter by Hallmark. Mothering Sunday is a proper day, acknowledged and encouraged by the Church, but I can't bring myself to recognise or want any acknowledgment of Father's (or Fathers') Day.

Hate to tell you this, Fred, but there's a Grandparents' Day too. I wonder how long it will be before that becomes a regular event here?

Ratter, that's some high prices gear you're talking about there.
For occasions that are not quite so special try the various blends from the William Grant stable. I'm particularly fond of the Sherry Cask one with the green label but the rest are very acceptable.
Morrisons are currently punting the Family Reserve for a tenner. Luckily I have two children. Cheers! :)
Here in Spain father's day is a religious day it's San Jose (Joseph ) March 18th ,a bigger day than mother's day which is first Sunday in May.

Oh no, naomi, not grandparents' day as well? I am a grandfather too, so I'll be cranking up my "Bah! Humbug!" even more now.
