Gogarburn near Edinburgh...tone...there were folks in there that had been sent as children because they were orphans...and also some that had been sent by courts...murderers thieves...criminally insane....all sorts scary.....closed now....
if you were stuck in one of these places you would tell them you were cured and felt better to just get out

I think that is because they seem to have been built at around the same time, DrFilth.
I'd have thought once in there it wouldn't be your choice as to when you'd be let out.
Prudie hence why you would tell them you were ok and had not spoken to your imaginary friend and that you would not be out picking mushrooms again

which calmed disturbed patients enough to start er treatment in the community
