Check for malware first, it may be an ad.

If Windows needs something it usually does so through the update procedure, which most set to automatic.
That definitely sounds like malware to me. If you click the link you risk either:
a) suddenly being asked to pay to 'fix' something that never needed fixing in the first place; and/or
b) opening your computer up to the dreaded Cryptolocker:

Download, install and run the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/
(Take care to deselect the option to install a trial version of the 'Premium' edition. Don't be surprised if a scan takes over half an hour to run. When it reports that it's found malware, click to view the results, ensure that there's a tick alongside everything listed and then click again to zap it).

Thank you both that's what i was afraid of. I did download the free malware and although it still says it scans my computer i am also getting a message telling me that my free version has run out and do i want to buy it. What do i do about that please. thank you
If you're getting a prompt to buy the Premium version that indicates that you didn't uncheck the box which offered you a free trial of it (rather than just having the free version).

There's no need to worry though. If you simply ignore the prompts to pay to keep the Premium version, the program automatically reverts to the free version anyway and you can continue to use it in that form.
