yesterday ma 11yr old went on a class trip to prestatyn, while there some of the kids wer hurt on the rocks taken to hospital for drinking sea water, there wer 44 kids and 6 teachers 1 of which was the caretaker.the first we heard was wen we went to pick him up from school and reporters wer there from local paper.no one had been informed from the school what had happend so all parents wer thinking the worst.now we have found out that the teachers wer advised not to go that particular part of the beach and how many teachers wer there.the beach is a dangerous place neway so there shud of been more teachers supervising,i was lucky ma son only had scratches on his chest arm leg and feet .as parents we put our kids safety in their hands when on trips and now we all feel our kids were put at risk, thankfully there were no serious injuries but it cud of been worse.is there anything us parents can do like sue em or something

Perhaps the school were negligent in not issuing the children with masks and oxygen tanks to stop them drinking sea water.
Whilst i think we should expose children to some risks we live in a litigious society and safety issues do get taken out of proportion. But given the circumstances you describe I think there will be an enquiry here. The teachers are in a difficult position these days
Sarah Kennedy read quite a funny skit on the 'Death of Common Sense' one morning last week on the R2 Breakfast Show. For those that heard it, I rest my case.
How many teachers did you expect to go for goodness' sake? There was one adult to seven children, would you not say that was an adequate ratio? There were no serious injuries, accidents happen and I'm sure the majority had a great time
It is unuaual for school trips that are purely as a recreational activity to go ahead these days. usually they are only supposed to be for educational purposes, i am sure 11 year olds are not studying the coastal erosion of the North wales coastline, not are they budding marine bioligists, what was the purpose of the trip? there is a perfectly decent beachg at prestatyn
For Gods sake, let kids grow up having a few scratches, bruising and learn how to look after themselves.
anyway who rang the papers? did one of the little darlings take their mobey with them lol

''prestatyn''

Yes... you must sue the school... absolutely...

...should have been Colwyn Bay...
sue them for what exactly?
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/2 009/07/11/stoke-on-trent-school-reported-to-he alth-and-safety-over-welsh-coast-trip-mishaps- 91466-24127638/
so the parents knew the children would be going swimming.
aftre one child got into difficulty, 10 climbed onto slippery rocks and some were hurt by doing so.
all went on to continue their day trip
Sue the school, the teachers, the coach driver, the prestatyn council, the deck chair staff, the rocks, the fish etc.

how does suing the school ensure your childs future safety?
dont let him go on any further trips.
