Perhaps its because you need to be able to drive to do the job!

Oh and life is not fair!

If they need people to drive of course it's fair.  No company would employ someone who can't do the job they want done.  Why would they?

// It's not exactly fair all these companies requiring a drivers licence. //

We've definytely moved away fro what to tell your friend.

I disagree. If the job needs it they ask for it.

'It's not exactly fair all these companies requiring a drivers licence.'

And how else do you think they can make deliveries, get stock, etc? Are you going to walk all around town with deliveries strapped to your back?

^definitely

If the job includes delivering then ofcourse you have to have a license

No what I mean should be like selco where not everyone has to be a driver and just have thier own role.

Errr...but they do have their own roles...and they require a driving licence.

That's for companies to decide. They may be different sizes or work in a different way (selco has a shop with tills, some do most through deliveries) and may need flexibility to cover busy times, holidays and sickness, lunch breaks, weekends, part time hours.

abbey, companies only employ the staff they need.  They are not charities.  They pay the wages and they expect the people they employ to do the job that needs doing.  If they're asking for drivers they need people who can drive.

Well I emailed another TF Soloutins and they said you don't need to drive for all roles.

Each company will have their own requirements for what a job entails. If the job includes packing and delivery a person with a license can do both so one person hired not two

That's their choice. Some do require licences, some don't. It's their choice depending on the roles and their business needs.

abbey, there's no point fretting.  You can't change what they're asking for.  Perhaps that particular branch wants its staff to be flexible so that it can allocate jobs as necessary - for example to cover periods of sickness it might take someone off the till and put them on deliveries.  That could be how they work, but however they work if they want drivers they want drivers and that's all there is to it.

The roles THIS branch are currently advertising require the ability to drive.

So if I worked there and had a seizure meaning I can't drive they would fire me?

That isn't worth thinking about.  You wouldn't get a job there because they only want people who can drive.

Its a moot point really, you have already had a siezure therefore you can't learn to drive.

I thought you couldn't restart your driving lessons until 2 years after your last seizure? What is the point of looking at driving jobs when you haven't passed your test?
