I do enjoy selco but obviously I have to leave because they have reduced my hours but I don't feel ready to leave. I definitely think more hours is out of the window now someone from another store has started on checkout

You had an offer of full time work but turned it down in favour of 10 hours a week at selco.  So why are you thinking of leaving? I sense you won't leave as life is too comfortable.

Question Author

No it wasn't the full time work I was looking for. I've been applying for others I know I would enjoy. I can't wait to get back into it.

Abbey, you've been kidding yourself if you thought you were going to get more hours at Selco. And you said 'it wasn't the full-time job I was looking for' - maybe not, but wasn't that the only one you've been offered in the past couple of years?

Question Author

No I meant the sort of job I want and the hours. I meant I want full time hours in another industry. No I know only done 4 hours overtime. Even if someone left I wouldn't get full time hours as they don't even replace staff.

But they brought someone in from another store. That suggests there may fill jobs with the right people but dont see you as being the right person to do more hours.

Question Author

Because they are a transfer moved from London.

^^^^and by your own account you're pretty rbbish

So we're they surplus to requirements at London? Sounds as if she was moving so they suddenly found a vacancy at your store.

Just more reason to think you'll never get extra hours there.

I do t understand what you're asking us though...or is just company on line you need at the moment.

Question Author

Yeah they were in a selco in London then moved by my store. I went for an interview as a stock controller but didn't get the trial. It will just feel weird leaving.

So they fill posts at selco cardiff when they have someone they want available. Doesn't sound like a true recruitment freeze to me. Accept it's 10 hours pw for you at selco or apply for a job elsewhere.

Why are you starting this thread. Is it because your other one's in this category are finished?! We really don't know how you are feeling. It is better to have a job of some sort before you leave

Abbey, 'I want full-time hours in another industry' - the past couple of years must have shown you how much of a problem this is for you? Why will it feel weird leaving Selco? You've had quite a few moans during your time there, with people 'promising you overtime', the insult of a new cleaner being more efficient than you, a supervisor or boss or something who 'didn't like you', and various other things.

Abbey,  I know it doesn't matter much now, but I think you need to stop saying 'they have reduced my hours'. It'd be more accurate to say 'they were unable or unwilling to give me a full-time contract'.  (I know you did full-time hours for a little while, but that didn't work out well and they were cut back.)

Abbey, could you just explain clearly and concisely what 'other industry' you mean and just what sort of full time job you think you could manage, please?

We've given you lots of suggestions.  You keep posting job descriptions that I would be terrified of taking on - and I taught in Comprehensive schools.

I did start out working in a bank and offices, so I do have an idea of different types of work and as a teenager I also did shop work.  So I do have a broad understanding of working.  Shop work was really easy, as I remember.

You don't know before you start whether you will enjoy any job..people have to do jobs they don't like/enjoy because they need the money.

Why not look for another 10 hours of cleaning work somewhere in afternoons so that you can stay at selco which you seem to enjoy and also earn more money.

this is crazy stuff isnt it?

I think it maybe her outfits Peter.

Stay at selco and take a second part time job somewhere else.
