These are real events...being turned into entertainment. It is NOT a documentary...it's a scriptwriters idea of events..and as I said...quite recent ones.

Tilly,.....while its not for the feint-hearted, it is not too graphic and I would recommend you give it a go.

Guilbert53....if you really think that this is all about a failed immigration policy, perhaps you should watch the program again.

Pasta....not everything in life is rosy, and perhaps you owe it to yourself, to give this program a go....its not so recent either....the events that it portrayed happened in 2008.

Me too Tilly, but it might have some effect in Rochdale, about the Council, and other heavy populated Asians elsewhere!

There was a story recently about no charges given, for 15/18 Asians, for rape!

It purveys two lies: firsly that the police were doing their job; and secondly that "social services" were doing theirs.

Naturally concern for the victims of rape must be subordinated to the wider issues of social "cohesion".

That's just what it *doesn't* do.
It has shown the complete inadequacy of either of those bodies to deal with the huge amount of evidence presented that there was something very rotten, indeed, occurring in Rochdale.
One character, Sarah, was heard to say something along the lines of "........it's happening, again", thereby informing the viewer that this systematic abusive behaviour was an on-going problem not an isolated aberration.
It was an emotionally exhausting hour of TV and I am 'looking forward' (if that's the right phrase) to the next two installments.

I am pleased the programme had the impact it has had, hope it will send a message to other child abuser gangs, that you will get caught.

If any of those that were found guilty, were not born here, they should have been deported.

Undecided if it should be shown in schools or not.

Its a judgement call, of course, to know how far to go. Sometimes you have to shock people, in order to get the point home. I think it made a very good case in explaining how all the authorities took such a long time to realise what was going on. The attitude from the Council woman, charged with dealing with the abuse was particularly revealing....effectively saying that child abuse couldn't exist outside of the home.

I agree that it made for some unpleasant viewing, but I think it stopped well short of being too graphic.
