Prison governor Kerri Pegg is accused of having an affair with convicted drug dealer, Anthony Saunderson, who gave her a Merc. And that she approved his early release from prison, though she didn't have the authority to do so.

How come someone without authority to approve releases get asked to authorise one ?  Another break in the systems ?

It seems she wasn't "asked", she just ordered that he be released.

It's also being happening with female prison officers as well, although they cant release them obviously.

You'd expect a young governor with a great education & on a stellar career projectory to have a bit more sense than your average screw. But maybe not...

Not sure "sense" comes into it when lust and a free Merc enter the picture.

She's likely to get 2-3 years inside reflecting on her error(s)?

I thought you needed a warrant in order to release....

It seems she didn't approve his early release from prison, she authorised his release on temporary licence - a very different thing.  He returned to the prison and was finally released after Pegg had moved to a different prison.
