Reported yesterday as a gas explosion, but apparently not.

Officers said the cause of the explosion remained unclear.

Someone could have turned the gas meter back to front, or interfered with it in another way.

It looks like your classic gas explosion.

The charge could relate to unauthorised tampering.

It's easy to rig a gas explosion. A lighted tea light in the bedroom / a gas tap on in the kitchen. When the gas reaches the flame - BOOM!

The article says the cause of the explosion is still unclear.

I would guess that's normal when somewhere is blown to bits!

Maybe someone was "cooking"?

Well Plod have nicked someone so they obviously dont think its a straightforward gas explosion.

Could well be Bednobs

Wouldn't an death in an explosion due to cooking,  tampering with meters etc. be manslaughter though? Murder implies intent.

The explosion could have been an attempt to hide a murder.

The arrest is usually for murder. The charge can be downgraded to manslaughter; if he is tried for murder the jury might find find him not guilty but guilty of murder; or he could plead not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter.
