""The government has banned travelers from Europe bringing meat and dairy products into the UK in order to prevent new cases of foot-and-mouth disease, which is spreading quickly across the continent. Were it not for Brexit, such a ban would be subject to review by the ECJ and the government would be unable to take decisive unilateral action to protect public health.""
"If you’re not livid at the disaster that Brexit is for the UK, you are clearly not aware of the facts."
I am not livid at Brexit - quite the opposite in fact (though there are still one or two issues to be ironed out). As you might realise, I am also aware of the facts (and much of the fiction).
I am not at all surprised that issues such as this arise. That said, the UK is not the only country facing problems with pharmaceutical products. Many in the EU are and it has nothing to do with Brexit, but frequently a lot to do with the EU.
I am also not at all surprised that the EU will capitalise on any problems the UK has as a result of it leaving the EU, and to exacerbate them whenever possible. I would expect nothing less. You would not expect that of most normal organisations that seek to ensure smooth trade with its largest trading partners. But the EU is not such a normal organisation. It is a venal concern which is interested only in its own domination of trade, industry and legislation across Europe. It is best given a wide berth wherever and whenever possible.
Too many people are willing to accept the turd-show that we are in as a result of Brexit – why should we not try to get back that annual £100 billion in lost trade (£40 billion annual lost tax revenue to the UK exchequer) etc, etc, maybe by re-joining.
Based on the responses to my Brexit posts on AB, I’m in the minority of this view (that Brexit is a disaster), by pointing out just a small selection of the disasters that have befallen the UK as a direct result of Brexit, some Brexiteers might wake up to reality.
