Well it's not in the UK so I expect you need a passport
For all UK citizens, then as we don't have an individual personal ID card, then I suspect that a valid passport will be required.
No you don't need a passport to travel to Eire from the UK
Humbersloop is correct, however if flying best check with your airline.
What do you need then, sloopy ?.
anyhoo how ya doin hippy chick.
^ agree, Ryanair for example (I think) insist on a passport wherever.
I stand corrected,HS, a little ignorance has a long reach in my hands. Thanks for your foresight. :)
^^assuming you're a UK citizen goofy

fab 'n' groovy soul boy
good good good, hows the refit going.
bless nibs x

it's a pragmatic leftover from when Eire was still part of the UK, recognises all the cross border traffic between the two countries
If using Ryanair check their Travel Documentation. They don't accept a driving licence. I've never used them to Dublin but often to Kerry and have to show my passport. There may be other documents they accept but nothing that I have other than my passport.

Thanks all - flying Aer Llingus and driving licence will do (phew - passport is away getting name changed).
That's good then Goofy. Just re-checked my Ryanair to Kerry next month to be sure and only a passport will do for that.
I would have thought flying to Kerry would initiate a full MI6 and G-2 screening...afternoon, gness x
Hope the name change is for good reasons goofy

Hi DT. Ever tried to get a bottle of Irish Tomato sauce through Kerry airport on Ryanair? So excited they got with that in the daughter's bag they missed what was in mine and that could have been dangerous!
