Whatsapp...clear Chat

Silly question but will this clear only the one chat...or every thing?

On mine if you click on the name and select delete chat it all goes but if you open it up and hold one particular chat box the dustbin icon comesup and you can delete just that box of chat.

It will only clear that one conversation.

I recieved a message earlier from a co-worker...a general happy new year message for a group of us. I then started to get messages from unknowns....no other way to describe them. I've deleted the convo...yet more of these messages are coming thru.
