Conservatives' Dire Record On Education
The Ofsted report into educational standards in Swindon, exemplifies the Conservatives' ambivalence to state education in the rest of the country.
At every level, the children are being badly let down. Ofsted have written to the the towns two Conservative MPs, but nothing gets done.

These days, teaching is on a par with acting - a profession you should only consider if you are going to be utterly miserable doing anything else.
That's the only way you will cope with what the profession will do to you.

Isn't that the problem right there in a nutshell, though?
If teaching is so bad, or described thus, isn't that just going to put off people who would be good teachers from applying? Leaving just the sheer bloody-minded stubborn ones left. No wonder there's a shortage of teachers.
But anyway. It's a long way before I have to make up my mind about it. I'm aware that my current experiences aren't the best to judge on. Depends what sort of school I end up at.
