The wife and I have just watched The Sting, which I recorded off the telly a couple of weeks ago. At the end Gorndorf(Newman) and Hooker (Redford) walk out of the 'bookies', walk down the street and the end titles roll. We both said, hang on, Lonnegan (Rodert Shaw) should come back with a load of blokes, force his way into the bookies, and find it is an abandoned 'shop'. Are we both going nuts, or is this an alternative end, or are we getting mixed up with another film (though I'm sure we're not!)
I haven't seen the Sting for a long time, but I agree with your version. How odd. The only thing to do, if you this'll keep you awake at night, is to rent it. Hope someone else on the sight is an expert on the film.

I've seen the film three or four times, and I don't recall the ending you describe - but you may have seen a different version - anyone else seen the 'return' version?
