If you are not well known personally, take some id with you as well as any supporting paperwork. Technically you can "endorse" the reverse cheque with both the incorrect and then the correct details. Your bank may advise though that the drawer of the cheque may return it. This should not happen but if it does then you will have to seek a replacement from the organisers.
Flonska is of course right
BUT
I would just try paying it in
I paid a cheque into PP's account and it was Jonny Smith-Brown.
oops I got confused! but it was for £2.17 and I think all parties could not face the cost and pother about bouncing it
another time, I got an e short - Parks instead of Parkes
and the bank sent it back to me
( one of the times you stare at the cheque and think - what the hell is wrong with them, why didnt they honour it?)
oh and well done for winning
