I've just switched providers from British Gas to Bulb. I have a debit balance at the moment. Should I pay it up now, or wait for notification.

Never swapped before!

Thanks

I would wait until British Gas ask for their money. If you pay it now, they might not have the necessary paper work in place, whereas if they send you a request, they will be sitting there, waiting for the money, and they will have all the clerical work ready.

Thanks, Bookbinder. I suppose that makes sense.

It won't stop the switch happening, though, will it?
I'm no expert, but my guess is that the switch will happen once British Gas have their money.
If things go as they should, the transfer will take place, British Gas will calculate your final Bill and if a Direct Debit is in place they will debit you under advice. If not they will let you know how to make the payment.

Thanks all.
I'll wait on an email from both of the providers.
