I have found a really old book of first class stamps. Can I still use them?

yeah so long as they say 1st
I put a 1P stamp on one - and the addressee went crazy

It make it a habit to buy more christmas stamps each year than I will use, ans store them. It tickles my weird sense of humour to use really old christmas stamps at the height of summer.
