Some may or may not be to interested, but any how, At Ironbridge( SHROPSHIRE) on Friday this week, they are blowing up three cooling towers at the closed power station at 11.00 am. It will be on tv news Friday night. :0) BOOOM

Many years ago, I was on my way to referee a Sunday leaue fotball match, on a bus that was passing the cooling towers at Tinsley (Sheffield). I knew that they were going to blow the towers up at 10am and looked at my watch to see that the time was coming up to 0958 as the bus pulled up at a stop in direct view of the towers. I was hoping that the bus would wait for a few moments but, alas, it pulled away at 0959. (I had really wanted to ask the driver to wait but it didn't seem right to do so).

We'd only just got out of sight of the towers when there was a massive 'Boom!', with the bus shaking so much that the driver stopped and got off to see if he could work out what had just gone wrong with it. As he got back on, I told him about the towers being blown up and he said "I wish someone had told me; I'd have waited to see it!" :(
