//...but will not be rushing out again until it is safe to do so, not when the Government decide to more people can die to save the economy.//
Exactly as it should be, Gromit. We can all weigh up the risks and make our own decisions. You can stay in and I can go out for a pint and a haircut. As harsh as it seems the economy must be saved. The consequences of lifting the lockdown are speculative. The consequences of retaining it are certain: the economy will be destroyed; the NHS will be destroyed; many more people will die of untreated illnesses than will ever die of Covid; the education and life chances of around 8m children will be crippled. In short, the lockdown is unsustainable for all these reasons and many more besides and the people currently cushioned from its effects, many enjoying a prolonged summer break, will face an economic day of reckoning that will make 2008 seem like a tea party.
