Does anyone else think he speaks so weirdly now, when he is reporting, makes me laugh.

Maybe he is using his 'real' voice and the one you are used to is him acting in Eastenders. I am sure that he doesn't sound like a thug in real life

I know what you mean, its the dismembered sentences where he says half of it in a rising voice then continues in a lowering tone with a definite gap in between.
