I know a few words in both Polish and Urdu, acquired out of interest in languages and gained from friends, but it is incontrovertible that immigrants need to learn the language of the country they have moved to. I learned French and even taught it to OAP ex-pats - who had assumed, wrongly, that everyone would speak English!

helloo to those that have followed my last post..been oot 'n' aboot......if I had to choose one or t'other it would be polish..have told the story before..was lucky enough to have audience with His Holiness Pope John Paul II way back 1984...I said the only Polish words I knew the gendobry etc ..sp?...and he answered in Polish so still don't know what he said....accent must have been good...
