How could they have expected The Queen to attend todays service! All the steps, the long walk in, sitting and standing throughout the service. It does not seem she could have been brought in and seated privately. Much better she stayed home and watches in comfort
They had a side door arranged so she didn't have to go up the steps apparently.
What has been going through my mind this week is what would have happened should HM have passed away before or during the celebrations - I did wonder if they would hold off on announcing it and prop her up on the balcony till it was all over.
Like a large proportion of the rest of the country she has decided to work from home most of the time. The difference is she has a reasonable excuse and (as far as one knows) she does not slop around in her pyjamas eating Hobnobs all day (though she may sneak a view of the racing on the telly if she gets time).
She refuses to use a wheelchair. I think a lot of people would be disappointed she is not in attendance. Will she find the energy to attend the Epsom Derby? She seemed to find the energy to attend the Windsor Horse Show, So finally she may be getting her priorities right!
I don’t think anyone ‘expected’ her to attend. Because if her mobility problems the palace has been saying for some time that her attendance at all engagements will be decided at the last minute.
