did you see my interview last night on Channel 4 with Sophie Morgan about Lancashire Heelers? She was amused that my little dog's name is Frosty Knickers. Great publicity for our vulnerable native breed.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.All the show people agree with you, but sadly as with most tv these days it is aimed at a generic following of dogs rather than the very small minority who are actually into showing. The difference between seeing the exciting dog sports like agility and flyball and one person walking round looking at a ring full of dogs just standing still is huge - you can't really blame them for not wanting to film all the show classes. Also with over 30 rings all going on at once it would be an impossible task to film it all. One of our local exhibitors from Yamouth won the Working Group with the Leonberger so will be interesting to watch the Best in Show final tonight.
Although there are many thousands of Greyhounds that are racing bred there are very few show bred ones, which are quite different. However it is possible to show the racers if you register them with the Kennel Club as well as with the racing authorities, although they will never do as well because they don't meet the breed standard of the show dogs, which have a much more exaggerated outline - we do have special classes for them at some of our shows though and encourage the owners to get them dual registered to give them another string to their bow. Even Crufts has special racing/lure coursing classes for those that qualify.
