Mr BM got some vouchers for so many years at his company so he bought a Ninja Creami for me (without asking, he just thought I might like one).  So later on I shall be messing about with ice creams.

I like my gadgets and use most of them regularly - an Instant Pot, an Air Fryer, a food processor, a food mixer (with meat mincer and sausage filler), a vacuum sealer, a bread maker, a sous vide wand are just some of my friends.  I think they are meant to make life easier - they don't, I end up doing more complicated stuff.  Things I do not use are a rice cooker, a veg steamer, a sandwich toaster, a popcorn maker (all of which came with Mr BM and I have not yet chucked out).

I am known as the Gadget Queen amongst a small circle of friends and if anyone needs a one off use of something, they normally ask me on the basis I might have such a thing!

What gadgets do you like in your kitchen?  (If I don't respond, I am off playing with my new toy).

I look at my mother's and grandmother's kitchen.  My grandmother had a small range that she did all her cooking on (nowt like an Aga) and my mother had a cast iron gas cooker with a single oven that was small compared to today's cookers. They still managed to cook meals, cakes, puddings, biscuits, sauces - everything I cook without the gadgets.  I remember...

Although I do not have much kitchen surface space since I got rid of the kitchen island (stupid thing was just just a pretentious waste of space and it was in my way and was just a dumping ground for stuff),  I have been known to put a heat mat on my table in another room and run these appliances there when I have been catering for a lot of people.

That is so true Barmaid 😀

Barmaid's post about the island reminded me of the first item I ever bid for and bought on Ebay - a kitchen trolley.

Like barmaid, I found the "stupid thing was just just a pretentious waste of space and it was in my way and was just a dumping ground for stuff),"

How true, BM.  I question where all that stuff in that drawer/cupboard was before we had said drawer or cupboard.

I couldn't do without my manual tin opener. In fact I have 2 just in case.

I had one, nicebloke, but I recently inherited 3 from my grandmother.  All are equally as bad as the next.

Deoends on what one calls a gadget.

Got a breadmaker I used to use regularly.

A liquidiser/blender that I don't use much as it's at my place and I don't cook so much any more.

A toaster, a kettle, a George Foreman grill.

Microwave, combi oven, fridge, freezer, induction hob unit.

Grinder, scales. My woman has an air "fryer".

Oh and we both have bean to cup coffee makers that are used every day we're at the same address.

I`ve got - slow cooker, ice cream maker, bread maker, blender, sandwich maker, couple of mini choppers, spice grinder among other things.  I haven't had a lot of luck with the rice steamer and the ice cream maker doesn't come out much, mainly because there is never enough room in the freezer for the finished product.  Latest aquisition is the Dualit version of the Velvitiser.

I forgot the pressure cooker - fantastic for making black dal.

I have a vegetable steamer, slow cooker and blender that haven't been used.  They are stored in the spare bedroom as all the kitchen cupboards are full of 200+ bottles of Pepsi Max.

I use the toaster, air fryer and microwave.  I have used my new, fancy oven twice in the last year and I use the induction hobs a few times.

I use very few due to lack of space but I love my air fryer,, but given more space the list of those I would like is a long one... Especially a proper barista coffee machine, and a self chilling ice cream maker,  and a dehydrator, to dry herbs, flowers, and to make jerky type cat treats.

Question Author

Rowan, my air fryer has a dehydrate mode. Might be worth considering for your next upgrade! I've only ever done tomatoes in it, which were good.

//I also bought a rotisserie, it cooked a chicken 'sitting up' and rotated it as you'd expect.//

That was a very accomodating chicken .

Didn't it protest ?😁

It didn't, but I clucked and squawked getting the blerdy thing of the blerdy machine

Tough birds, those capons

Kettle,toaster, microwave.
