My guess is you may be from the US as here in the UK we tend to call them Mobile phones not Cell phones.

I guess you phone the people who provided you the phone, and the police.

If it is covered by insurance ring them as well.

Once it is stolen, you have to lodge a police complaint. But for this you require the number of the instrument.

If you type the following message
*#06# on your cell phone, you will get a 15 digit number on your screen. Please make a note of this number elsewhere either in a diary or a computer or some other secure place. When your cell phone is stolen, announce this to your service provider and also furnish him with this 15 digit number. The cell phone companies do something to make this particular instrument unworkable with any sim card. That way, even thought you might not be ablve to recover the lost phone, you may make it useless for the one who has it in his possession now.
