Good luck with whatever you choose. I think Yorkshire terriers can be quite yappy but they are nice little dogs.

Didn't see your original question, but think you might be looking for a small dog???
If so, have you considered a shih tzu. Great little dogs - dont need much exercise but would walk for miles if you wanted them to. Require regular grooming but dont shed hair. Wonderful little characters - so lovable and easy to please.
Yorkshire terriers are usually much more active and very much a "one man dog."
Have had both breeds. Presently have 2 female shih tzu and wouldn't be without them.

thank you janrowlands for your advice, did your Yorkies still have a hunting instinct, and should they have tails? you say they are active does this mean yapping alot and running around all the time. When I get a little dog I would like to walk down the lanes with it and take it with me in the car, to be my friend.
