In what context?

In theory they 'work' by an appointed charlatan mysteriously seeing visions within them in order to predict the requisitioners future.

I have a proper crystal ball. Why? I really don't know! I've never really known what to do with it and I've certainly never seen any 'visions' in it!

No disrespect to Octavius - but crystal balls DO work. Several of my friends, and myself included, have one. I really don't know how the "pictures" appear in the depths, but after years of practising and seeing nothing, it suddenly happened one day, and I realised that I'd been staring into it wrongly. As with seeing "ghosts" and the rest of it, no one actually believes until they've witnessed these events for themselves, so those who scoff, have a right to - unless something happens to make them change their minds.
Is yours just as an ornament then Aprilis? x

I find it hard to believe that people still think this kind of thing is genuine.

No offence but I've seen Paul Daniels saw a woman in half which looked very realistic and believable but it's just an illusion.

Oi, don�t dis me! I didn�t say they didn�t work. I said that someone claims to see visions within them. My query over context was whether what may or may not be seen is genuine, can indeed fortune tell, and therefore �works� for the person who asked for it.
