Sometimes I've noticed in the last couple of years, that at certain times of the year, my hair appears to go downy and appear thin, and then bush up again. last year was the thinnest it has ever appeared, until ironically i had it cut and it appeared thick again.is this the prelude to baldness, so would it be wise to think about a hairpiece in the not too distant future?

It would be unwise for anyone  to think of a hairpiece

Might be an idea to go to your GP and see if they can test your testosterone levels - this can affect the hair..... Other than that it could be a calcium deficiency (except that you didn't mention brittle nails....)

Probably just best to go to your GP and find out....

Does it go thin in autumn / winter? Hot weather makes hair expand and cold returns it to normal.
