Having had my usual fight with the Generalist I am left with 2 questions needing answers. So as not to offend anyone by asking for the answers too early could someone kindly give me clues where to find the answers for:-
22d Old adventures (7). I have E?N?E?S
39d A plea for a truce (5,1) I have ?A?N? I
Have given the letters in case I have an error

Have sorted out 39d.
22d. Have a word for this clue but it means that my first letter is wrong and I don't think it is.
21a gives the first letter and that clue is "An inhabitant of Brisbane's state" and the answer is the slang version.

The letters for 22d should read A?N?E?S

There were two possible answers for 21a and you have probably used the wrong alternative ... I wasn't certain which one to use until I answered 22 down.

Thanks sarumite. I will investigate for a non-fruity(?) version of 21ac and come back if still stuck.

Jennifered ... it IS still fruity, just change second part of your word (7th/8th letters) :O)

I was also stuck on these two. Thanks to your conversation I have corrected 21a and solved 22d. I regret that Inspiration for 39d has not yet visited here and I would appreciate a clue. I have the same letters. My guess is that the answer is not an English phrase. Thank you again for your help and 'good luck' to everybody!

Hi Rose, best clue I can think of for 39d is that it's an anagram of 'if a sin'.

Thank you, juliefer, for your clue. I have the answer now. I must admit I wouldn't have guessed that one in a million years. I have never come across an expression like that - perhaps I went to the wrong school or played the wrong games!!
