Call centres

Everybody hates Mondays but I hate Tuesdays because that's the day that all the call centres on God's earth descend on me and make my day a misery! I have a French surname which is pronounced differently here so the second I hear it mispronounced I know its a callcentre. Once I spoke French to some poor hapless idiot who didn't understand a word and offered someone to speak to me in Urdu!!!!! Seriously has anybody got any sweet put downs for these maggots?

I find the best "put down" is to put down the receiver back on the phone.

Awww I used to like those cold calls, they entertained Mini Boo no end. I used to pass the phone to her and she'd babble away to them for ages.

I feel kind of thwarted now that I've joined the Telephone Preference Service as the calls I get are dramatically reduced and it's left me having to entertain my own child ;-)

I just hang up on them, why even get into a discussion with them? they get my name wrong all the time, I dont even entertain a conversation with them

Firstly you can get the tps service!!! and if its not a uk based centre can get annoyed, but from the uk i call it the modern day slave factory!

I have loads of fun with them,
I keep them talking for ages, as if I'm interested, then i say i have to go out, And promise to ring them back later on last number redial,
But of course the number is always with-held..

Thank you all - a couple of times I've put the phone down only to pick it up later and find the line still live, once for 45 minutes during which I couldn't use it to dial out.
