Hi I have visto and to cut a long story short its no good I have been intouch with dell and she said run the operating system cd that come with the laptop, Started at 5oclock last night and ut still only 50% done surely that cant be right any ideas cheers

I assume you mean vista not visto!

No that's not right, and also if the computer came with vista installed surely running the operating system CD that came with it is just going to reinstall vista!


I'd quit the install eject and clean the CD and restart the install and see if it makes it through it.

no was i was meant to say its a vostro laptop and it has vista lol sorry

You say Vista is "no good". What do you mean by that, you dont like it or it does not work?

You are now running an operating system CD.

What CD is that?

What are you actually trying to achieve?

As chuckfickens says, if it is the operating system CD that came with the laptop it will probably just reinstall Vista and you will be back where you started.

is it a new Dell laptop?? i bought one early this year and had all sorts of problems, had a techie doing checks etc and kinda fixed over the phone.. one whole weeks. aparently its one of the Vista programs conflicting with the hardware, they had to remove oneof the programs from Vista.
