My new year's resolution for 2010 is to improve the condition of my hair. At the moment I use the pink Elseve Nutri Gloss and occasionally wash with a light shampoo but my hair isn't as silky and doesn't shine like I would like it to. I live in a hard water area so maybe one of the causes and I use a semi-permanent colour on it every 5 or 6 weeks. Any suggestions??

thanks for your answers. I do eat healthily but may sometimes lack in iron so will up my iron intake. Bapla yes, a good start would be an intensive conditioning treatment and alexdo I do get my hair trimmed every 3 months (and get sick of the hairdresser's saying 'you have dry hair, your hair's falling out etc' so don't want to shorten those visits!!)

that should read hairdressers, before someone picks me up on that (late night or rather early morning!!)
At my age my one remaining vanity is my hair.........I use a good shampoo, at the moment it's Andrew Collinge salon shampoo but never use conditioner. Even though I have very straight hair I rub it through with John Frieda Frizz-Ease as it then combs without snagging......whenever possible I leave it to dry naturally.

Use the professional conditioner from your salon. Leave conditoner in overnight to nourish dry hair - do often to stop hair drying & snapping off.

quite agree poodi but coccinelle colors her hair frequently and that removes natural oils that need replacing.

Dye? Not a word we know ;) Tint/colored hair needs frequent nourishment. The longer you leave in conditioner the better. Even applicable to men who have their hair frosted.

Be careful of pills since they hit the blood-stream; kelp (seaweed) will make hair grow quicker...........on head/ears/eyebrows/underarms/arms/legs etc - werewolf if too many - but we have clippers ready ;)

So apart from an intensive conditioning treatment I'll do in the next few days, which conditioner should I be using to leave overnight? Wouldn't this dry out in my hair and be hell to rinse out?
Conditioner your salon uses for tinted hair, kerastase/l'oreal etc. Easy to rinse out under shower. Wear shower cap to protect bed linen.

I use VO5 hot oils occasionally (usually before a night out) and they leave my hair so shiny and silky!
I totally recommend them!
Brazlian hair treatment!!! it has keratin in and it is so good for your hair - do it. you wont be let down.
